Why Use Propane - Efficiency
Did You Know?
Propane has been widely used for many years and has always been a clean air fuel. Propane is not a greenhouse gas, is non toxic, non caustic and truly environmentally friendly. Electricity is often touted as a clean fuel and can be, however, when measuring efficiency and carbon emissions from the source of the energy all the way to the end user, propane is the ‘clean air’ choice. Consider the following information when you are making your energy choice:
· 91% of the original energy source for propane reaches the end user. (Home, Business or Farm)
· Only 9% of the original energy is lost to production and transportation.
· Only 31.5 % of the original energy used to produce electricity reaches the end user.
· 68.5 % of all energy used to produce electricity is lost to conversion, plant use, transmission and distribution.
· 68.8% of all electricity used in our country is produced from coal, natural gas and other petroleum products.
· Only 10.5 % of our nations electricity is produced from renewable resources. Of this renewable energy, 75% is produced by hydro-electric power plants.
· Electric water heaters produce 2½ times the carbon emissions of propane water heaters.
